Creative writing is any form of writing that exists outside of journalism, business writing or academic writing. It expresses an author's voice, writing style, thoughts and ideas in an engaging and imaginative manner. Creative writing is used in a number of industries, from publishing to marketing.

Tryone R. Turner-Perry ’25 was the first of his siblings to earn a college degree. He said that goal — and, ultimately, achievement — kept him motivated throughout his time at SNHU. After earning his associate degree, he kept plugging away at the work to earn his bachelor’s degree in communication.

Jacob Powers, associate dean for SNHU’s Creative Writing programs, answered questions about his professional background, his passion for creative writing and his work helping students build confidence in their craft.
